All Campbell County High School students are welcome to audition for roles and apply to work backstage.
Most rehearsals are from 2:45 - 5:15pm. Some rehearsals are in the evening and on weekends. Please consider your commitments to other activities and organizations before auditioning.
INTERESTED IN AUDITIONING?
1. Sign up and pick up required materials in Mr. Bertucci’s room (B219).
2. GET YOUR PARENT’S SIGNATURE, complete the audition application, and bring it with you to the audition.
HOW TO PREPARE AN AUDITION MONOLOGUE
- Analyze your character. Who is your character talking to? What does your character want?
- Make specific choices about movement and line delivery.
- Allow no “empty” moments. Go for your character’s goal/objective with focused energy.
WHAT IS THE DIRECTOR LOOKING FOR?
- your ability to take charge of the stage
- focus, energy
- control, in voice and movement
- expression, in voice and movement
- sincerity; belief in every word you say
- line interpretation
- character development
- technique and range
- whether you are physically appropriate for a character
- etc.
WHAT TO DO WHEN IT’S YOUR TURN TO AUDITION
- Walk to center stage with confidence.
- Make a short introduction that provides your name, and the title of the monologue you’ll be performing.
- Take a moment to get into character; then, begin your monologue.
- Choose a spot in the back of the theater as your focal point.
- When you complete your performance, thank the director and exit the stage.
- Direct all questions to the stage manager, before or after you enter the stage.
